The TBAYS Keeper Akademy

…”We win because I hurt”

-A program designed to fill one of the biggest voids in youth soccer…the training of goalkeepers.  The Akademy program is a development oriented training system. A progressive system designed to continue goalkeepers through the developmental stages based on age, level of play and commitment to the craft.

-The Akademy approaches training in three ways:

1)      Youth training

a)      Youth Training will consist of age appropriate technical and tactical developmental        instruction.

b)      Training sessions will be held or at least designed by a licensed goalkeeper coach.

c)      Youth training will be held in all seasons of play including winter indoor sessions.

d)      Groups of keepers within age groups will be encouraged to train together.

2)      Training coaches

a)      Coaches will assist the trainer in goalkeeper training sessions so as to be able to observe training methods and topics.

b)      Coaches will receive personal instruction on what and how to teach their goalkeepers.

3)      Web site support listing training activities and technical guidance

a)      Training sessions will appear on the TBAYS website to allow for reference by coaches.

b)      Briefs will be posted to the website to assist in training topics.

c)      Technical breakdowns will be provided to help in understanding what and why.
